Bucksport Middle School students in Dr. Akerman’s Gifted and Talented class
researched the theory of Multiple Intelligence. MI, as it is known among educators,
posits that the definition of intelligence should encompass a range of abilities—from
mathematical/logical to linguistic to interpersonal and more. MI begs the question,
‘How smart are you?’ to be recast as ‘How are you smart?’ Students will be using the
theory as a basis for other study areas this year.
